Voice Over IP
In a business world you have two VOIP options. Option 1 is to have internal VOIP. Option 2 is to have internal and external VOIP.
Internal VOIP means that you have phones at every desk in your office that are not much different than a computer. Extension to extension phone calls are all 0’s and 1’s. They are computer language. Technically speaking it is data sent over the Internet Protocol. However, when you call outside the office, a server in the closet would translate the 0’s and 1’s to analog and sent the phone call out to the real world through your traditional analog lines.
Option 2 uses the internet and something called a SIP trunk. So, just like in Option 1, the calls go to the server room. But from there, the calls go through the SIP trunk (across the internet) to a data center. This is going across the internet so you have to have a very reliable internet to have good call quality with a SIP trunk. Once at the data center, they translate the 0’s and 1’s to an analog signal and push it out to the real world.
Computer Troubleshooters has experience with both kinds of VOIP and can optimize your business communication systems.
